Frequently asked questions

What does this calculator estimate?

It estimates the all-in monthly cost of web browsing and scraping for AI agents: browser/scraping provider fees, LLM extraction tokens, proxy/Captcha overhead, failed-page retries, human review labor, and self-hosting infrastructure if applicable.

How are pages vs steps counted?

A 'page' is one target URL. 'Steps per page' captures multi-step navigation (login, pagination, form fill) where each step may consume a browser action or extra page credit. We multiply page count by steps as a rough usage multiplier.

Why do some providers bundle LLM extraction while others don't?

ScrapeGraphAI and some managed scrapers include LLM extraction in their per-page price. For providers that only return raw HTML or markdown, the calculator adds a separate LLM extraction cost. Toggle the extractor to match your stack.

What is the proxy / CAPTCHA adder?

It's an optional extra cost per page for cases where the provider's base success rate isn't enough and you need premium proxy, residential IP, or CAPTCHA solving. Set the percentage of pages that need this and the per-page cost.

When is self-hosted Playwright cheaper?

Self-hosting usually wins at very high volume or when you already own proxies and anti-bot infrastructure. At low volume, managed providers are cheaper because they bundle proxy rotation, session management, and reliability.

Are these prices exact?

No. Providers change credit pricing and offer volume tiers. Use the editable per-page costs to match your quotes.

Prices are approximate list rates as of mid-2026. Browser / scraping providers may charge per page, per credit, per GB, or per successful extraction. Treat results as directional for budgeting; replace with your actual quotes.
